Fashion house Christian Dior ordered to relinquish $262k of Melissa Caddick's stolen funds

More than $262,000 held by fashion powerhouse Christian Dior will have to be relinquished as investigators recoup what they can in the fallout of Melissa Caddick's fraudulent scheme.

Since February 2022, receivers have been hard at work liquidating Caddick's assets after the conwoman pulled off a $23 million Ponzi scheme before mysteriously vanishing.

As well as the Christian Dior funds, which were revealed on Friday in a Federal Court affidavit, Caddick's assets have included her company Maliver, her CommSec domestic and international share portfolios, Dover Heights mansion and luxury personal items including jewellery.

Earlier this week, Justice Brigitte Markovic ordered Christian Dior to hand over $262,940 in funds, plus nine years' worth of tax invoices and other financial records to do with the Dover Heights woman and Maliver.

Of this money, $200,000 was paid by electronic funds transfer while $62,940 was paid by American Express credit card.

"Having regard to what has now emerged about Caddick's reputed conduct in obtaining money from third parties, (Christian Dior) does not know to whom this money truly belongs," the firm's solicitor Masiullah Zaki wrote in his affidavit.

While the company said it was willing to assist the receivers, it initially declined to hand over any documents, citing confidentiality concerns.

On Monday, Justice Markovic ordered the receivers to notify Christian Dior if they were going to disclose any private information either with the court or to creditors.

The Australian Securities and Investments Commission and the Australian Federal Police jointly raided Caddick's eastern suburbs home on November 11, 2020.

Her husband Anthony Koletti reported her missing two days later.

Police believe she died sometime in this period, after her foot was later found washed up on Bournda Beach on the NSW south coast, some 350 kilometres from her home.
