Chris set for world sheep record

Chris the sheep, whose fleece weighs a record 40.45 kilograms, looks set for enduring fame with the Guinness Book of World Records considering him for an entry, the RSPCA says.

As well, his epic coat could go on display in the Australian National Museum.

Chris himself, discovered earlier this month in bushland outside Canberra after evading the shears for years, is still recovering and putting on weight at the RSPCA shelter before heading for greener pastures.

"Our intentions are to send him to a farm where he can be one of the herd and live a normal sheep's life away from his fans and the paparazzi," the ACT RSPCA newsletter says.
