Chris Lilley wins Silver Logie

With only two words actor Albert Mambo has delivered what could possibly be the best awards acceptance speech of all time.

Chris Lilley took this year's Most Popular Actor award for his role in Ja'mie Private School Girl but was unable to collect his Logie in person. 

In a videotaped message Lilley said he was in London promoting his latest comedy - Jonah From Tonga.

"Thank you for my Logie I really appreciate it," he said, adding the award would be accepted by one of the show's other stars.

Mambo, who plays Kwami in the ABC show, strode onto the stage before uttering a simple "thank you" and walking off.

The star was quickly applauded for his concise and to-the-point speech.

"Kwame just nailed best speech," Twitter user Cara Waters wrote.

"Best speech ever. More of that!" Twitter user Dale Roots wrote.

Offspring's Asher Keddie kicked off the awards, taking her fourth Most Popular Actress award for her performance in Offspring.

The Offspring star said she never would have dreamed the "rag tag, messed up, chaotic family would have five series in them and perhaps more to go".

"It just makes us all so, so happy," Keddie said.

The Block's Scott Cam was awarded most popular presenter.

Keddie and Lilley are also up for the Gold Logie along with Carrie Bickmore from the Project, Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries star Essie Davis, The Block Presenter Scott Cam and Stephen Peacocke from Home and Away.
