Chinese developer to bring $800m Aussie Legends World to the Gold Coast

A Chinese theme park giant has been given permission to develop an $800 million "Australian Legends World" on the Gold Coast.

The theme park is set to feature everything people know and love about life down under, but with an Asian twist.

Chinese developer Songcheng already operates 30 theme parks in China and this will be its first international venture.

The plan for the park includes a replica Uluru at the entrance, leading in to animal exhibits, an adventure park, indoor ski field and a 3500-seat theatre.

Accommodation is also included, with multiple towers of up to 25 storeys planned.

The park is set to create 500 permanent jobs.

Locals are excited for the development.

Ray White Surfers Paradise CEO Andrew Bell told A Current Affair having a theme park so close to the city would be a huge win.

"This is really significant, it's one of the biggest deals that's been done for some time," he said.

"This is going to bring back some of the people who may have thought they've done our tourist parks before.

Construction could be begin as early as mid-2018, with Aussie Legends World to be completed by 2020.
