Chilling video shows tornado bearing down on Chinese city

At least one person has been killed and several injured after a tornado ripped through China’s Hainan Province yesterday.

Dramatic footage shows the tornado approaching Wenchang city, in the province’s north-east.

The system left a trail of destruction in its path, tearing roofs from houses,  according to local government sources.  

Chinese broadcaster CCTV News reports nine people were injured as the tornado moved through the region.

Emergency crews are carrying out recovery work across the region, with more severe weather forecast.
