Children trampled at chaotic Easter egg drop on the Gold Coast

Children have been knocked to the ground and trampled after a helicopter released thousands of chocolate eggs onto a school oval on the Gold Coast.

More than 30,000 Easter eggs were dropped over Upper Coomera Primary this morning as part of a Good Friday event, hosted by Forward Church.

Footage shared to Facebook showed thousands of children screaming as they scrambled onto the grass to grab the eggs.

“I can’t get up!” one child screams, falling over.

“Stop pushing,” another yells, as others can be heard crying.

An older woman in a black cap is then shown helping the children up, and exclaims “it’s too hot in here.”

Footage filmed by 9NEWS showed the crowd of mainly children being held back as the helicopter hovered over the drop spot.
