Childcare overhaul could see grandparents paid by government

It’s the calculation every family has to make: is it worth both parents going back to work?

Under the current system, the government subsidises 50 percent of child-care costs, up to $7500 per child, per year.

But now a Productivity Commission report has recommended an overhaul.

One recommendation is that grandparents who study and gain a Certificate III in child-care - will be paid for childcare.
