Girl dies after being hit by a truck near Penrith
A child has been killed after being hit by a truck in Sydney's west.
Emergency services were called to Boomerang Place, Cambridge Gardens near Penrith about 4pm.
The child, believed to be a nine-year-old girl, died at the scene, NSW Police said.
Officers from Nepean Police Area Command attended and established a crime scene.
The truck involved was from Penrith City Council, a spokesperson for the council confirmed.

"All at Council are deeply saddened and shocked by the news this afternoon regarding an incident involving a Council truck at Cambridge Gardens," the spokesperson said.
"Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the victim and those involved and impacted.
"We understand that this tragedy will be felt by many in our community and beyond.
"We are unable to comment further on the circumstances surrounding the incident due to it being an unfolding Police investigation."
An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash is underway.
