* 569 identified alleged perpetrators

- 247 ordained clergy

- 285 lay people

* 133 unknown people alleged perpetrators (may overlap with someone identified in another complaint)

* 94 pct of alleged offenders male

COMPENSATION PAID

* Nearly $31 million in total, including treatment, legal and other costs

* Payments in 459 complaints (41 pct of total complaints)

* Average nearly $67,000

* Highest average monetary payment $113,000 through civil proceedings

* In 25 pct of complaints, the complainant received an apology from the diocese

REFERRALS TO POLICE

* 84 referrals

* Four prosecutions

* 23 matters currently being investigated

* Victim or accused had died in seven cases

DIOCESES WITH HIGHEST NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS

* Brisbane - 371 complaints (a third of all complaints)

- However, Brisbane requires all Anglican schools to report complaints to the diocese. Therefore, the number is higher than other dioceses that don't require that rule.

* Adelaide - 155 complaints (14 per cent of total)

- Significant number related to Church of England Boys Society, which had a network of pedophiles

* Melbourne - 96 complaints

* Sydney - 89

* Newcastle - 63

* Tasmania - 56.
