A curious seal has used its mouth and whiskers to persuade a diver exploring the coast of England for a belly rub.

Video shared by adventure blogger Lizzie Carr showed the seal approaching a male diver in the Isle of Scilly on Wednesday.

The seal slowly approached the diver, before using its flippers to lever itself onto his shoulder and mouth his head.

Ms Carr assured her followers that the diver was not injured during the encounter.

“Don’t worry- the (seal) was just being friendly. They use their whiskers and mouths to judge size, shape and texture,” she wrote.

“He just wanted to play. In fact, when he started to lay on top of us we soon realised he was after a little tummy rub.”

The blogger added that the “magic” encounter was one she will “cherish”.
