Miller 'shaken' by Dawson's death, vows to stay clean

Charlotte Dawson's shock suicide has inspired her drug-addicted former husband Scott Miller to stay clean and help other addicts, his mother says.

The former swimmer is currently completing a six-month stint in rehab for a methamphetamine addiction and narrowly avoided jail last month for drug possession.

The Olympic silver medalist was in a state of shock after learning about Dawson's death, his mother Jenny Miller told News Ltd.

She said Miller was taken to Melbourne by rehabilitation workers on Saturday just hours after the 47-year-old TV personality's body was found in her Sydney apartment.

"I don't think this will push him back into drugs," Ms Miller was quoted as saying.

"He said, 'This is showing me how many people that are out there that need help, now I'm going to channel my energies into helping others.'"

Miller and Dawson were married briefly in 1999 and 2000.

She was found dead the day after Miller's 39th birthday and six days after his tell-all interview on Nine's 60 Minutes, where he discussed their relationship.

Miller's sister Nicole Perko, 40, said Dawson never really moved on from the marriage breakup.

"It was only in the last two weeks I realised she hadn’t. She said she would only ever marry once," Ms Perko was quoted as saying.
