CFMEU official stripped of entry powers

A union official accused of intimidating Fair Work inspectors at Sydney's Barangaroo construction site has had his right-of-entry powers suspended for not disclosing his criminal past.

The CFMEU's Luke Collier failed to tell the Fair Work Commission of his previous convictions for theft, recklessly causing injury and criminal damage when he applied for a permit in 2013.

Fair Work director Chris Enright revealed Collier had now been stripped of his right-of-entry powers.

The decision was made after an application by the construction industry watchdog.

Collier was one of the CFMEU officials named last year at the royal commission into trade union governance.

They were accused of abusing and intimidating Fair Work inspectors at the Barangaroo site.

It's alleged male inspectors were physically assaulted and branded grubs and dogs during visits to the site.

A female officer was also called a "f***ing slut" by one union official.
