A NSW police station has been evacuated after a man attempted to lawfully surrender a hand grenade.
The man entered Cessnock Police Station this afternoon about 3pm with the weapon.

All vehicles and pedestrians have been told to avoid the area with police waiting ADF officers to safely remove the device.
Police are not treating the incident as a threat or suspicious.
