Celine Dion gives tearful tribute to her late husband René Angélil
Singer Celine Dion has given an emotional tribute to her late husband René Angélil at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
Dion took the stage at the casino’s Colosseum theatre on Wednesday, telling the audience her husband would have been “so happy” to see them celebrating his life.
"Rene, the love of my life, would be so happy to know we are here together. I feel the love in this room,” she said.
"This is my home away from home. At the same time I'm supposed to feel extremely comfortable being home and right now I'm not sure how comfortable I feel."
Her emotional speech was live streamed around the world.
"René never hated anyone. Is it possible someone loves everybody? I don't think so. But he never told me a person he disliked. Time was precious to him. He loved life so much, so very much,” she said.
"On behalf of my family, thank you again for being here for this beautiful tribute of mon amour, René, I love you, so much.”
Dion married Angélil in 1994, and he died on January 14 following a long battle with throat cancer.
