Boxes of beloved Christmas favourite "Celebrations" won't be filling shelves in Australia ahead of Christmas.

The Mars-owned brand, which has been in circulation since 1997, has been officially discontinued in Australia due to rising importation costs.

"Our Celebrations products are imported from Europe and like many Australian businesses importing products from overseas, we're experiencing rising cost pressures and supply challenges," a Mars spokesman told 2GB on Thursday.

"We've made the difficult decision to discontinue Celebrations in Australia."

Mars said it hoped it could resume sales of the product in Australia next year.

"We know Celebrations is a much loved brand so we're currently reviewing options to reintroduce Celebrations in 2025," the spokesman added.

Ben Fordham first broke the sad chocolate news on 2GB today.

"Oh no, no, no. You know those Celebrations chocolates? ... Well, they're gone. We've noticed that they've disappeared from the shelves," Fordham said on today's broadcast.

The radio host then called up TikToker Russ Eats, who last year ranked Christmas chocolates, with Celebrations coming out on top with the number one spot.

"Usually I get tipped off, but I was trying to buy them for early Christmas presents, couldn't find them anywhere, and I was like, 'Nah surely it's not this'," he said.

"I've done some investigating and found they were gone, so I've had to go for some sub-par Chrissy present for the family."
