Investigation into 'suspicious' death of two-year-old Queensland girl ramps up as police release CCTV

CCTV has been released of people police wish to speak with in relation to the sudden death of a two-year-old girl in Queensland last year.

Queensland Police were called to Mackay Base Hospital after a two-year-old girl arrived there unresponsive at 8.30pm on December 29.

She died shortly after.

An investigation into the suspicious death of the child is ongoing.

Officers have now released CCTV of people inside the United Chemist and Coles supermarket in North Mackay who could help with their investigation.

Police want to speak with the people pictured in the CCTV who were at the United Chemist between 3.50pm and 4pm and the Coles between 4pm and 5.30pm on December 29 as they may have "information that could assist the investigation".

Anyone who is not pictured in the CCTV but was at either business during these times is urged to contact police.

"The two-year-old girl, in company with a woman and several other young children, attended these locations during these times," police said.

"The child was being carried in a harness on the woman's back."
