Cat drowned in bizarre Vic break-in

A burglar has drowned a pet cat but stole nothing in a bizarre break-in at a northern Victorian home.

The burglar ransacked the Cobram home and drowned the family pet, Puss Puss, leaving its body to be found later by an occupant, police said.

Police believe nothing was stolen.

They hope to speak to a man in his 20s seen loitering in the area in the days leading up to the incident on Wednesday morning.

He is described as Caucasian and 165-170cm tall with a thin build, a fair complexion, a beard and moustache and long, blond, scruffy hair.
