Cash seeks advice on penalty rates

Employment Minister Michaelia Cash has asked her department to look at whether the recent penalty rates decision disproportionately affects women.

Fair Work Commission president Iain Ross said in his decision on retail, hospitality and fast food penalty rates the decision to scale them back would not have a disproportionate impact on women.

But Senator Cash told an estimates hearing on Monday she had commissioned her department to look at the issue.
