Casey Fields Primary School in Cranbourne East alerted parents to the operation unfolding near the school on its Facebook page this afternoon.

The lockdown has since been lifted.

"There is an ongoing incident at Nugget Way," the post read.

"The school is in lockdown and all children are safe."

The arrest comes after a man allegedly fired a shot at a 25-year-old Langwarrin man walking along Cadles Road about 8.20am earlier this month.

The man dodged the bullet, but then got hit by the driver of a stolen black Ford Focus, injuring his head and neck.
