Two people wanted over Melbourne home invasion

A pair of two unknown males are on the run following an assault and home invasion in Melbourne's inner suburbs over the weekend.

Police believe the pair riding their pushbikes stopped outside a residential premises on Drummond Street in Carlton about 1.30am on Saturday.

The unknown offenders were involved in a verbal altercation with the residents inside the premises.

Investigators have released CCTV footage and an image of two males who may be able to assist. Victoria Police

Police said a resident confronted the offenders before they pushed past him and entered the premises.

Numerous items inside were damaged and a 22-year-old man was assaulted.

Both males fled the scene northbound on Drummond Street.

The 22-year-old victim received a minor injury but wasn't taken to hospital.

CCTV released by police shows one offender holding a baseball bat.

Police are searching for the offenders, with the first perceived to be Caucasian in appearance, aged in his 20s or 30s, wearing a black hoodie, green/khaki pants and baseball cap.

The second male is perceived to be Caucasian in appearance, aged in his 20s or 30s, wearing a white T-shirt, black shorts, baseball cap and backpack.
