Melbourne’s peak hour motorists have been warned to avoid the busy Punt Road this morning, with one northbound lane still closed.

Emergency services closed off Punt Road between High Street and Commercial Road in both directions after a car collided with a power pole just before 2am.

Southbound lanes have since been reopened with one northbound lane closed.

There are workers on the scene attempting to replace the power pole.

The lane is expected to remain closed until at least midday.

There were three people in the car at the time of the crash. They ordered an Uber which took them to the Alfred Hospital.

The hospital confirmed all three people are in a stable condition.

VicRoads has advised motorists to consider alternative routes.
