Car ploughs into yard, metres from family eating dinner

A man has lost his licence after a crash metres from a family home in Adelaide.

Police and emergency services were called to Kensington Road in Rosslyn Park after receiving reports a car had smashed into a front garden just after 6.20pm on Thursday.

Police said they found a Subaru station wagon hovering over a small brick fence and embedded in the front garden.

The driver, a 60-year-old Burnside man, allegedly recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.238, almost five times the legal limit.

The man was issued with a 12-month instant loss of licence and his vehicle was towed away.

He was reported for drink driving, driving under the influence and drive without due care.

He is expected to appear in court at a later date.
