Car flips after driver misses roundabout

A man is seriously injured after his car flipped onto its roof at a roundabout on the Gold Coast.

Police say the man was driving at Nerang about 6pm (AEST) on Monday when it seems he didn't see a roundabout coming up ahead.

His car hit the central island and launched into the air before flipping onto its roof.

The male driver, 42, was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital with serious injuries.

He was the only person in the car.
