A man has lost control of his car, driving it up a tree where it caught fire, in a high speed crash on the Victorian south coast overnight.
Police say the 39-year-old was under the influence of alcohol and driving well over the 100km speed limit when the crash occurred just after 7.30pm at Little River.
It’s believed he was overtaking traffic on the Princes Highway when he veered onto the opposite side of the road.

The man was taken to hospital where he is believed to be suffering from non-life threatening injuries.
A police spokesman said the man was expected to be charged with numerous traffic offences today.
