Cancer Council kids sunscreen recalled after causing 'inadequate' protection

Cancer Council's clear zinc kids SPF50+ sunscreen has been recalled over a separation issue that is causing inadequate protection.

The sunscreen is having issues remaining mixed as the ingredients keep separating, producing an uneven texture.

The company said this can affect the SPF and may not properly protect the skin.

The recall affects three batches of the 110g bottle: 1143730 with expiry date August 2027, 1141313 with expiry date June 2027 and 1146857 with expiry date November 2026.

Anyone who purchased the affected sunscreen is advised not to use it and return it to the place of purchase.

The Therapeutic Goods Administration said the recall is unrelated to its investigation into SPF levels in sunscreens, which was prompted after testing confirmed Ultra Violette's Lean Screen SPF 50+ sunscreen had inconsistent SPF levels, with some as low as four.

Twenty-one other sunscreens from popular brands like Naked Sundays, Aspect Sun and McoBeauty used the same base formula and were recalled.
