Canberra restaurant explodes into flames

Firefighters are battling a blaze in a popular restaurant in a heritage building in Canberra's CBD.

The ceiling of the Sydney building has partially collapsed and heat from the fire is hampering firefighters' efforts.

The ACT Emergency Services Agency says an explosion was heard shortly before crews arrived on Monday morning.

Ambulances are on the scene, although there have been no reports of injuries.
