Canberra man charged with murder after partner's body found inside apartment

A Canberra man has been charged with murder after his partner was found dead inside a unit complex in September last year.

Police arrived at the scene in Reid, on September 9, 2022, to find a 36-year-old woman with a number of serious injuries all over her body.

Despite paramedics' best efforts, she was unable to be saved and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives opened a murder investigation yesterday which resulted in the arrest of a 37-year-old man who was subsequently charged with one count of murder.  9News

Initial inquiries were unable to determine the woman's cause of death, but police later obtained more information which revealed she had died of blunt-force trauma to the head.

He is due to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court later today.

Police have alleged the duo were in a romantic relationship and are therefore treating the matter as family violence.
