Call to tag all Australian live exports
AAP
An independent MP wants all livestock exports to be fitted with electronic tags and traced once they leave Australia.
Existing laws mandate the tagging of cattle but there's no legal requirement to track them through all stages of the supply chain.
Andrew Wilkie on Monday introduced to parliament a private member's bill that aims to strengthen existing laws and extend it to sheep and other livestock to help improve traceability and transparency in the live export industry.
