There are concerns police might not be doing enough roadside drug testing because each test costs up to $600 a driver.
Victorian rural MP Darren Chester has told ABC radio the federal government could consider providing extra cash to help cover the cost.
Police say that in some rural towns one in three drivers tested have been using ice.
