Two men injured in unrelated shootings in Sydney's south-west

Residents in Sydney's south-west say drug-fuelled violence is destroying the area after two unrelated shootings overnight.

Police were called to apartment complexes in Cabramatta and Liverpool hours apart after two separate shootings.

A 40-year-old was hit once in the chest after five gunshots were fired through the door of his unit on Park Road, Cabramatta, shortly before 11.15pm.

He remains in hospital in a stable condition.

"This was a deliberate, targeted attack," Detective Chief Inspector Glen Fitzgerald said.

It's understood the victim was visiting the apartment and is known to police.

Police have called for any witnesses or anybody with CCTV or dashcam footage in the nearby area to come forward.

Meanwhile, a 25-year-old man was shot in the leg in the carpark of a unit block on Charles Street, Liverpool.

He ran to a nearby doorway and collapsed before being transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries around 6.30am.

Police don't believe the two shootings are linked.

No arrests have been made and investigations are continuing.

Residents in the area say they're living in fear as violence escalates.

"Nobody should have to live in fear and I am living in fear. This is not right," a Cabramatta resident said.

"I don't feel safe walking around here," a Liverpool resident said.
