Four bystanders have helped a car stuck on train tracks to safety, moving it less than a minute before a train passed.

The car became stuck on the frozen tracks in Portland, Oregon, last Friday and was unable to pass through, ABC-affiliate KATU News reports.

Footage from the news helicopter shows four bystanders coming to the aid of the stranded driver, joining forces to push the red Mustang free.

An official from local public transport agency TriMet said that while it was a gallant effort, the train likely could have stopped in time.

“Trains are rolling slow through intersections [however], and this one had plenty of room to stop,” the spokesperson told KATU News.
