A search is underway for a bushwalker missing in the Royal National Park south of Sydney.

NSW Police say Aaron Payne, 32, parked his vehicle in Bundeena on Saturday and walked into bushland near the start of the Coast Track walking trail. He has not been seen since.

“A full-scale co-ordinated search was launched on Saturday afternoon involving (local) police, the Rural Fire Service, SES and the Westpac Rescue Helicopter," NSW Police said in a statement on Monday.

"The search for the man has continued through Sunday and today."

Investigators say they hold serious concerns for Mr Payne's welfare.

The 32-year-old was last seen wearing a navy blue shirt, beige shorts, dark hiking boots and a backpack. He was equipped with a head torch.
