Bushfire burning near Tasmania coast

A new bushfire warning has been issued on Tasmania's east coast.

People have been urged to avoid the Dolphin Sands area along Dolphin Sands Road east of Yellow Sand Banks Road.

The fire was progressing towards Bagot Point, however, it has since been brought under control.

Locals have been warned that embers, smoke, and ash may fall on the road in question.

Firefighters are on the scene and conditions are expected to improve.
