Burst water main in Revesby sends fountain of water gushing into the sky

Authorities have been called to a street in Sydney's south-west to fix a burst water main that has sent large jets of water gushing into the sky.

The massive fountain of water was seen spewing high above Weston Street in Revesby from the 9NEWS helicopter.

Sydney Water told 9news.com.au that workers arrived at the scene just after 1pm to find a small hole in a 100ml pipe.

The company says there was no damage to property or flooding caused by the burst pipe.

A Sydney Water crew managed to stop the water flowing at around 1:45pm but don't expect to be able to fix the problem until at least late-afternoon.

About 30 homes have been left without water.

Motorists were continuing to drive past the scene of the incident, but it's not clear at this stage what caused the water main to burst.
