Man found dead in bedroom after mystery house fire

Police are trying to establish the cause of a fire which claimed the life of a man in Melbourne's west.

The 37-year-old man was found dead trapped inside a bedroom of a Burnside home.

The fire broke out just before midday, with the cause still to be established.

Another person was treated for smoke inhalation.

People who knew the victim arrived on the scene and witnesses spoke of their grief as they were told of the man's fate.

"They were so distressed, like the guy broke down in tears," one witness said.

The investigation into the blaze is continuing.
