Burke tars Turnbull a 'part-time PM'

Malcolm Turnbull wants to be part-time prime minister, turning up for work for just two days when parliament sits next week, Labor's Tony Burke says.

The manager of opposition business says the new parliamentary calendar shows the House of Representatives will sit for two days in the first week and not at all in the second as the Senate debates legislation to re-introduce the construction watchdog.

"What we have in the program announced today is a prime minister wanting to work part-time and government that thinks it's too good, too far above the rest of Australia to be answerable to anybody," Mr Burke told reporters in Sydney on Monday.
