Burglar eats chocolates, washes clothes inside Melbourne home

Security cameras has captured a thief’s bizarre two hours inside a Melbourne home.

The video obtained by 9News shows the offender casually strolling up the driveway of the Laverton property on Friday.

After being greeted by a friendly German Shepard named Jesse, the offender proceeds to raid homeowner Steven Freeman’s fridge.

“He ate all my Cadbury Favourites,” Mr Freeman, a truck driver, told 9News.

“There were several cans of drink which he demolished… he probably would have cooked himself dinner if I didn’t come home about midday.”

The intruder then did a load of washing and cut his toenails in the bathroom. He was just about to jump into the shower when the 55-year-old victim returned home.

With his load of washing and Mr Freeman’s speakers, the offender fled the scene.

Police are now investigating the robbery, and believe that Friday’s 42-degree heat may provide a clue; it’s suspected the offender is homeless, and may have wanted to seek refuge inside the home.

“There’s a creek down the road… he could have jumped down the creek if it was hot,” he said.

“Or he could get his own house or a job. That could help.”

The thief described as Caucasian in appearance, and is believed to be aged in his 30s.
