Bunnings named Australia's number one online retailer
Do-it-yourself hardware juggernaut Bunnings Warehouse has been named as Australia's number one online retailer.
Released by e-commerce insights platform Power Retail, the Power Retail 100 ranked Aussie e-commerce businesses on the basis of a number of criteria including site traffic and accessibility.
Bunnings was found to have had huge traffic, a wide product range and a number of unique options such as "drive and collect" that helped it rise to the top.

"Bunnings Warehouse have high traffic generally, but they have expanded their product offering to include dropship items, and significantly improved their UX with regards to things like localisation and store maps, which explains their top ranking," said Marieke van Bruggen, head of data at Power Retail.
"I believe page load speed, accessibility and NPS are going to be a key focus for the next iteration of the ranking, so I would recommend that retailers should focus on these areas in the year to come."
In second place was Woolworths supermarket, which bested its rival Coles (fifth place).

Interestingly, almost all of the top 10 brands – with the exception of Kogan and Catch – also had very high-profile physical store networks.
Kmart achieved third place and was closely followed by JB Hi-Fi, with Target (seventh), Chemist Warehouse (ninth) and Myer (tenth) rounding out the top 10.
CEO of Global Marketplace Nathan Brown said the COVID-19 pandemic had crystallised for retailers how important and valuable having a strong e-commerce arm was.

"Australian businesses, employees and consumers have gone through unprecedented levels of change throughout the pandemic, leaving many to wonder: what is normal anymore," Mr Brown said.
"However, the growth in online retail is here to stay. We have seen many companies doubling down on e-commerce and investing not just for profits today, but growth tomorrow.
"For retailers to maintain their relevance for consumers, they need to keep evolving and growing."
