The Turnbull government's new infrastructure and housing affordability measures could help build nearly 100,000 new homes, modelling for Master Builders Australia shows.
Research by Cadence Economics predicts the $75 billion investment in transport and infrastructure will support building up to 93,000 new homes in four years - a supply boost of 41 per cent.
"There has been a lot of attention paid to the helping young Australians overcome the deposit gap but the budget's supply-side measures strike the main blow in keeping home ownership within reach," Master Builders Australia chief executive Denita Wawn said in a statement on Saturday.
