Broncos, Suns could be caught up in Titans cocaine scandal

Titans player Kalifa Faifai Loa and former squad member Joe Vickery attended Southport police station for fingerprinting today, as the fallout from the cocaine scandal continues to engulf the Gold Coast sporting community.

Faifai Loa and Vickery, along with Titans stars including Greg Bird and Dave Taylor, and Queensland Reds rugby union vice-captain Karmichael Hunt have been charged with obtaining cocaine from former player John Touma, who is himself charged with trafficking.

The other players have been charged with supplying cocaine.

The fallout is spreading as well, with police promising more charges will be laid.

The Broncos are rumoured to be the next club in the firing line, while Hunt’s former AFL club the Gold Coast Suns revealing they have discussed the issue.

The Suns’ Gary Ablett said the playing group was “shocked” to hear the news.

“Obviously it’s a serious issue, we need to let the investigators do their work,” he said.

Coach Rodney Eade said no players had come forward to provide any more information.
