A young British backpacker was reportedly killed by her new boyfriend in a grisly murder-suicide at a Sydney unit block.

Amelia Blake, 22, was found dead inside the upstairs apartment of a Newtown block overlooking King Street on January 12, according to The Daily Telegraph.

The body of Ms Blake’s new boyfriend, a Nepalese man aged in his 30s, was also discovered at the scene.

The Telegraph reports police now believe the man killed Ms Blake, whose body was found with multiple injuries.

Strike Force Tenisonwood, comprising officers attached to the Newtown Area Local Command and members of the State Crime Command's Homicide Squad, has been established to probe deaths, with investigators treating the case as a murder-suicide.
