A man charged with murdering another man at an inner Brisbane unit block has been remanded in custody.

Christopher Newlove, 51, appeared briefly in Brisbane Magistrates Court this morning.

He is charged with murdering a 42-year-old man, whose body was discovered by police at the unit block shortly after they were called there to a break-in in the early hours of Friday morning.

Dressed in a sweater and jeans, with dark hair that flowed over his shoulders, Newlove didn't speak but yawned repeatedly.

Defence lawyer Nick Dore didn't apply for bail for his client, but asked to adjourn the case so police could provide him with a full brief.

Magistrate Ray Rinaudo set a committal mention for April 27 in the Brisbane Magistrates Court.

An autopsy is due to be carried out today.
