Woman, 45, allegedly stabbed to death in Brisbane, neighbour assisting police

A neighbour of a woman aged 43, who is believed to have been stabbed to death in Brisbane is helping police with their investigation.

Queensland Police said the 55-year old is assisting them after the "tragic incident" in Hamilton in the city's north just days from Christmas,

Police were called to a unit block in Oxford Street at 8.45am.

They found the injured woman and gave her first aid until ambulance crews arrived.

She was rushed to Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital, but died.

"We're only a few days out of Christmas, this is a very sad reminder of a tragic loss of life," Detective Inspector John Mison said.

Police confirmed the pair knew each other, and said officers had been called to the units before.

"There have been some reports of some disturbances," Mison said.
