Brisbane policeman stands down

A senior Brisbane constable accused of using excessive force has stood down from official duty.

The Queensland Police Service says the 41-year-old policeman is being investigated in relation to allegations of excessive force but declined to give details of the incident.

However, a police spokeswoman told AAP it was not related to an alleged altercation between police and a reveller outside a Fortitude Valley nightclub in Brisbane last month.
