Brisbane police T-bone car while answering robbery call

Police officers attending an armed robbery in Brisbane were lucky to escape unscathed after their patrol car T-boned a civilian’s vehicle at an intersection, sending wreckage flying over the road.

Dramatic dashcam footage taken by a nearby motorist captured the crash in the northern suburb of Stafford on Friday morning.

Video shows how the police car with its lights and siren on drive through the intersection while traffic around it had stopped.

But a white four-wheel-drive vehicle continued through the lights and was struck mid on by the police car.

The collision crumpled the front of the police car and sent the four-wheel-drive into the path of two stationary cars waiting at lights.

It is believed a truck on the four-wheel-driver’s inside may have been obstructing the driver's view and caused the crash.

Both vehicles were extensively damaged but luckily no one was injured. 

The Queensland Government’s highway rules state that emergency services vehicles should approach intersections cautiously and have the right of way regardless of lights if they have sirens and lights flashing.
