Brisbane man pleads guilty to manslaughter over Kelvin Grove stabbing
Robert Frescon was described as a caring man with a loud, infectious laugh who was killed in a Kelvin Grove home invasion that went wrong.
Thomas Appleby pleaded guilty on Thursday to manslaughter over 33-year-old Frescon's death.
The court heard Appleby was the mastermind behind a plan to steal drugs from Frescon using violence.

CCTV of the incident shown to the court shows Appleby using knives to threaten Frescon, who defends himself, using an esky to knock Appleby down.
It's then that another man, Damian Marco Markovski, enters armed with a knife and fatally stabs the 33-year-old.
Appleby and Markovski fled the scene, leaving Frescon to die in his apartment.

The court was shown CCTV of the incident which depicted Frescon acting in self defence, using an esky to block his attacker. Nine
Appleby robbed a Gold Coast shopkeeper in another violent incident the following day before he was ultimately arrested and made admissions to police.
Appleby was sentenced to nine years jail but is eligible to apply for parole immediately.
He's already served approximately a third of the sentence in pre-sentence custody.

Markovski was convicted of Frescon's murder following a trial last year and is currently serving a life sentence.
The court heard a moving victim impact statement from Frescon's sister, who said her brother would have turned 37 on Monday and that "he lived and he was loved".
