Audit reveals thousands of Brisbane buildings contain flammable cladding

An audit of city buildings has shown thousands may have been constructed with flammable cladding, similar to the one used in the deadly London tower inferno.

9NEWS has revealed one building on Ann Street in the CBD, which sits virtually on top of Central Station and houses lawyers, bankers, baristas and even a childcare centre, contains flammable cladding.

The same cladding is being removed from the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

The Ann Street building is one of more than 12,000 privately owned buildings of concern, identified in a recent audit.

Building owners have until the first of October to be assessed but with repair bills set to run into the hundreds of thousands, many may be reluctant to act quickly.

9NEWS contacted the company headquarters but was repeatedly told the building manager was not available.
