Petty thief caught on CCTV camera unaware he was being filmed
A police hunt is on for a brazen burglar who was caught on camera during a petty robbery at a sporting club in Melbourne’s south.
Victoria Police are appealing for information to identify the man after CCTV footage emerged of him rummaging through drawers at the club on St Kilda Street in Brighton on February 18.
Authorities allege the man fled the premises around 3am with several stolen items including an Apple iPod, music amplifier and sporting uniform.
In the vision, the man can be seen looking directly towards the CCTV camera as he rifles through the club’s belongings, oblivious that he was being filmed.
“The man is perceived as Caucasian in appearance and aged in his 20s with a thin build,” a police statement said.
“He was wearing a long-sleeved T-shirt, jeans and Converse hi-top sneakers.”
Anyone who recognises the man or who has information are urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
