Brave eight-year-old Sydney boy saves his mum in heroic Triple Zero call

A young boy has saved his mum’s life after calling Triple Zero when she fell unconscious in their home.

Eight-year-old Bailey Wrigley was alone with his mother Andrea at their home in Concord, NSW, when she told him she wasn’t feeling well and was going to lie down.

Later when Bailey was unable to wake her he called Triple Zero.

“My mummy is falling sick,” he told Ambulance Control Centre Officer Maria Santos.

“I’m trying to wake her up, she keeps opening her eyes but she doesn’t wake up.”

In the 20-minute phone call, Bailey followed Ms Santos’s instructions to help save his mother.

Without any hesitation or panic Bailey calmly told Ms Santos his address, that his mother had been suffering from sinus problems and her symptoms.

With Ms Santos’ help he counted his mother’s breaths and helped keep her conscious.

Bailey calmly attempted to wake his mother up, shaking her every few minutes.

“Bailey, this is really important, try to give her a bigger shake, try to get her to wake up,” Ms Santos can be heard saying on the call.

“Okay,” Bailey replies straight away, leaving the phone for a moment before confirming his mother’s eyes had opened a little.

Bailey stayed on the phone with Ms Santos until paramedics arrived at the scene, never failing to follow her instructions or respond.

When paramedics arrived he lead them to his mother.

Sabina Fazlic, one of the paramedics who attended the scene, praised Bailey’s response to the crisis.

“Bailey was so calm and was able to answer all of our questions and provided vital information about his mum’s recent health” she said.

“He demonstrated wisdom beyond his years and helped save his mum’s life.”

Mrs Wrigley had been suffering from a sinus infection and had been sick for a number of days.

The infection spread to her brain which rendered her unconscious.

She woke up four days after the incident in intensive care, remembering nothing about her son’s actions.

“I am just so proud of my son, words can’t describe how lucky I am,” she said.

“He is the best boy a mum could ask for.”

Mrs Wrigley has since made a full recovery and returned home to her family.
