Brad Pitt to battle for joint custody of couple’s six children: reports

Brad Pitt has reportedly vowed to front up against Angelina Jolie for joint custody of the couple’s six children.

While divorce documents filed on Monday suggest Angelina Jolie has filed for sole physical custody, it’s believed Pitt won’t accept only visitation rights for Maddox, 15, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and eight-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox.

Insiders have told People magazine that Pitt believes “sole custody for either of them doesn’t seem like what’s best for the children”.

“Brad thinks Angelina is a great mother but he is also a great father,” the source said.

“There is no way he is going to be absent for any part of his kids’ lives.”

The pair have wasted no time moving things along, with moving trucks seen at their Hollywood home on Wednesday.

Their official reason for the split was cited by Jolie’s lawyer in court documents as “irreconcilable differences”, however US media has been humming with other theories. 

The New York Post said Jolie had hired a private investigator to spy on Pitt and his co-star, Marion Cotillard, who were filming the World War II drama, Allied, after being convinced they were “fooling around”.

TMZ reported unconfirmed claims that the actress filed for divorce over Pitt’s consumption of alcohol and marijuana, and anger issues.

Another unnamed source claimed Jolie left her partner of 12 years after “an incident”.

“An incident took place and prompted [Angelina] to act and file,” the source told Us weekly.

Meanwhile, London’s Madame Tussauds museum has physically separated the Brad and Angelina wax figure replicas to “mirror the separation”.

The figures were unveiled in 2013 to celebrate Pitt’s 50^th birthday.
